The classes we teach go perfectly with the Floatation Tank experience. That is why we have the tank for folks to float in. Our classes help people to understand what happens for them in the tank.
Cherry Street Intitiative: Class on how the Mind works
Tired? Frustrated? Are you caught in a world of re-occurring habits and have not found a way to change them? You are caught in a trap, unless it is, you choose to reprogram your brain. This class will give you the experiences that introduce you to sets of instructions (programs) in your mind that limit you. It also lays a foundation of abstractions that are needeed to accomplish the goals you set for yourself.
John C. Lilly, a world renowned neuroscientist studied the minds of humans and dolphins. Lilly discovered the mind works exactly like a computer. Programs are running all the time in the Human Biocomputer. For example there are programs for survival, programs about who we think we are, programs that just do not work so well and some that do.
The Floatation tank which Lilly invented, was a tool he used in his research. Observation led to understanding what the brain produced. From studying how the brain waves functioned, a series of definitions were compiled to describe what we believe is real in the world. These concepts and definitions will be learned during this introductory class.
Most programs work very well. For example if a child learns the stove is hot or that it is not safe to run into the street, those are beneficial programs. There are also some programs that do not work so well, such as programs to procrastinate, or a program of not being on time.
If a behavior becomes a problem it can be recognized and changed. An eleven step protocol will be learned in class to write a new program for the Biocomputer to run. You choose each step that constructs what the mind will run that countermands the instructions that are giving you trouble.
This is an introductory class only. You will work on a behavioral program to change something that is not working for you. Deeper work that addresses the roots of behavior can be explored in the next step of this work.
